CALIFORNIA!

Tue Feb 3, 2009, 2:12 AM
BREATH DEEP THE SMELL OF SUNSHINE AND STUFF!

So anyone who cares probably already knows, but for posterity's sake I'll post it here: That whole flavormancer thing didn't work out. Turns out they don't take kindly to students riding soup elementals around campus. So I have decided to become a scientist. I'm even studying in emeryville, right next to berkeley!

Probably need to move to a knew dev art name, this one is kind of stale.

Thank you for the fav. :)

Just giving props where they are deserved. Conveyed a lot of information in a really small amount of words, which is arguably the goal of poetry. The rain is what got me, ever since I was little I've been unable to sleep without my head being next to a window, with the window cracked open. My favorite smell+sound combination is the smell of wet earth and the sound of raindrops. Thinking of that while reading made your poem seem immediate and personal. Good job ^^

Thank you. I love rain too. I grew up with foggy/rainy weather and living in the desert, I've lost a lot of that. But it's been raining recently and I've been super nostalgic. :D

I love your story too, I'm glad you can relate to it.

Your welcome! I've always wanted to live in the desert. I've always lived in northern california (except for a brief stint in seattle) and my only experience with deserts have been hiking/backpacking trips. I've always wondered what the rain sounds like with all that flat space, nothing to reflect inwards off of. Can you see it coming like a wall? or do the desert rains just suddenly spring up around you?

That's awesome! I'm originally from No Cal and the guy I wrote the poem about is in Seattle now (just visiting). Hah!

The rain in the desert sometimes just comes on and it's pretty tumultuous and then leaves, but most of the time it's just normal clouds rolling in and then drizzling rain. Of course "most of the time" is about 1-2 weeks out of the year.
